Lex Getit IS IN the blogging! And things will never be the same!
So lets get in to it. I got to hang out with two of my blood brothers yesterday and man was that fun! Ridiculous overflowing buckets of fraternal hilarity, recounting hi-jinks, watching March Madness and NBA basketball games, recounting missions in the 'hood, fights with neighborhood toughs, being in the middle of your childhood while the crack epidemic hit the streets of the Bronx and forever changed the dynamics and economy of the hood. Surviving life endagering run-ins and memorable close escapes and gettin' caught out there too! Like the time my grandmother told me not to go past the gate and I cut my stomach trying to sneak out over the top of fence because the squeaky gate would have alerted her to my "high-level prison break"??? Priceless. These are classic moments! Good ol' Gun Hill Road! BX escapades! Ahhhhhhh, those were the days!
Picture three brother's reminiscing, eating, drinking, cooling out, playing music and just kicking it about literally everything under the sun! It was the dopeness. We went from being mostly good little kids back in the day, except for me of course -- I was the one who always had to touch the stove to see exactly HOW HOT WAS HOT-- all the way to becoming grown-ass men with degrees, companies, bills and mortgages ! What a journey it has been and what a journey it is going to be! I cant wait to see how much better this gets! Can y'all tell I'm still charged? I mean when was the last time you laughted til your stomach was killing you and your sides were hurting? Cant recall? I highly recommend it.
Its a running joke in our family that yours truly screamed bloody murder when he got his butt handed to him by our no nonsense lots-of-love, tough-as-nails Jamaican Pops up in the Bronx. Why? A direct and willfull infraction of a parental edict issued LESS THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE!
The word came down from the mouth of my father like. this "Son! You must stay away from that Fight Streeter game! I don't like the element hanging out there at that store!" Nonetheless, I couldnt resist the rapid seizure inducing rapid 16 bit electronic graphics! I mean it was 16 bits! The entrancing video game caused me to stayriveted to the floor for WAY beyond the normal time it takes to buy a Sunday paper. Dad let me have it and rightly so. Trust, when people say the essence of comedy is other people's pain. THEY ARE RIGHT! I think the neighborsfour floors down even heard the craziness of my hide getting tanned about ten shades darker. And I'm already a walking piece of midnight to start with! Ah, that surrounded arcade in that wee bodega! The lesson learned? Comeuppance.
Whats better than having genuine brothers to share the good, bad and awful times with people? Not a thing! The Brotherhood? Yeah, I reps for that to the death. BIG UPS Vic, Laurence oh and JP, Rich, Duane and Vaughn! Two by blood, Four who may as well be. Nuff respect fam! 1!
